Classic KJV Card Designs and Ministry History
Featuring card and icon designs for the Seven Spirits of God, as well as several other Biblical archetypes. Learn about the KJV Cards ministry, and its 1st series of themes.
Sometime around 2014-2015, I set-out to create a strategic card game, using Biblical themes. I had a love for card and board games, and the original goal was to create something that was principally a game, and secondarily scripture.
Most Biblically themed games are heavy-handed with trivia-based mechanics, which doesn’t make them very fun, or engaging, for most people, unless they are very scripturally knowledgeable.
So, my idea was to create a fun extensible multiplayer game, with strategic depth, but with passive exposure to scripture.
That year, I invested thousands of hours into creating the parameters of the game, the designs, the style, the mechanics, etc.
I hired a digital painter on Elance (now, Upwork), and worked with him for two months to get the artwork to generally reflect scriptural archetypes.
By the end of that whole process, I had a prototype, and I play-tested it with whoever was willing to help, to optimize the ruleset.
Towards the end of a year, or so, I attempted to raise money on Kickstarter, which met close to 1/12th of the total goal (interesting number), but ultimately failed.
That led me to realize the importance of marketing, which actually gave me the start of my secular career.
Ever since then, I have been slowly working to figure-out how to develop this ministry and product line, which has ultimately culminated to this website, and format.
At the time, it was called “Truth”, under a brand called “AbdA” ministries.
Later, I converted the artworks to outreach resources I called “Truth Packs”, which I occasionally handed-out in small card sleeve pouches.
Printing, and Kitting, and Fulfillment have always been very difficult to configure for this brand, and line of products.
After more than several years, and many phases of simplification, and re-branding to “KJV Cards”, I am now offering promotional products for sale, based on these artworks, and more, from a print-on-demand shop for short runs, and other product types may be available over time, as well.
The Spirit of Love is the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ
I feature the Cross of Jesus Christ, first, because that is the expectation, but I don’t believe it was amongst the first of the designs I had commissioned.
I designed the original product to be based around scriptural archetypes.
You see… when we read the Bible, the same terms are used over and over, again.
The retention and consistency of God’s Word is a requirement of the standards and statements of the scriptures, which means that the terms used are consistent.
I knew the cross needed to be visually represented, but by what term?
Sacrifice immediately comes to mind, but there is one scripture, in particular, that really stood-out, to me, in conveying the greatest sacrifice possible, and yet, it uses another term to describe it: “Love”
John 15:13 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Someone once argued with me, saying that a heart should represent love, but the scripture actually depicts a heart in other ways, with other terms.
I can find no greater picture, no greater visual representation, no greater Spirit of Love, than the Cross of Jesus Christ.
I have to make a quick note on John 11:25-26 KJV…
This is one of the most important, and scarcely discussed, scriptures, in the Bible.
In 2022, I entered into a new era of this ministry, which entailed a large variety of changes, and radical alterations, to what I originally planned for its implementation.
For my new batch of POD cards, this was the first scripture I printed through Zazzle.
One of my goals, at the time, was to develop a single card, which identifies Jesus as the Messiah, and belief as the mechanism required for salvation.
Of all the verses I considered, these two verses seem to communicate salvation more thoroughly than any other concise passage I’ve yet to find.
It also poses a question of belief to the reader, which is very unique, especially since we are handing-out these cards as promotional resources.
There are only a few, key moments, throughout the Gospels, where Jesus made direct statements about who he is, and this is one of those moments.
If we only ever handed-out this section of scripture, it would be a life well-lived.
For the sake of your time, however, I must digress to other Biblical themes…
The Spirit of Truth is the Word of God
Technically, there is a passage, in Paul’s epistles, which describes Truth as a belt…
Ephesians 6:14 KJV
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And, at some point, I will have to publish a whole series, featuring those depictions…
However… I am convicted to follow the law of precedent, in matters of scripture, and in the description of the Truth, we see recurring references to The Word of God, in conjunction with the Truth, and both of those terms are equated to a sword, on separate occasions, as well as the very identity of Jesus Christ, himself.
I don’t have any other new samples, from this theme, but dedicated pages may eventually be created for each theme, where I will provide high-quality samples.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The Spirit of Glory is the Beauty of Holiness
This is a stylized Torah crown.
It represents the Spirit of Glory.
I don’t readily recall if the Torah crown, itself, is referenced in Scripture, but it is certainly a common fixture to modern day Torah’.
My initial thought was to depict a crown, in general, and there are at-least one or two scriptural depictions of crowns, which would fit the glorious archetype.
However, this caught my attention, because the Torah crown sits on top of the Torah, and it typically has bells, much like the priestly garments.
Seeing that Jesus is the high priest, after the order of Melchizedek, of the House of David (Torah crowns usually depicting the Star of David), who is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, the Word of God, it seemed fitting that the crown of Christ might be depicted as the Spirit of Glory.
Admittedly, as romantic as some of these elements are, I do plan to go back, and create more scripturally direct correlations to Glory, at a later time.
Even so, consider this an impression, which does contain scriptural pointers.
All that aside, it IS glorious… and there are some excellent verses to go with it…
1 Chronicles 29:11 KJV
Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

The Spirit of Grace is God’s Gift of Salvation
Behold, the Gift of Grace… one of the most precious pieces of this series.
In the print-on-demand (POD) Zazzle shop, there is a unique square tri-fold Grace product, which contains over five verses that describe God’s grace thoroughly.
This is obviously an excellent choice for birthday and Christmas gifts.

Grace being likened to a gift is a highly recurring theme in the scriptures.
That gift is free, but it still must be accepted by those who are of a contrite heart.
Grace and Mercy are demonstrated throughout the scriptures, and are often described as coming with a clause, which is an expectation of repentance.
The gift is free, up-front, but we must not spite the Spirit of Grace by using its liberty for sin, and the pursuit of the flesh.

The Spirit of Faith is Evidential Belief
This depiction of Faith is, of course, based on the following verse…

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
There are, perhaps, other ways to depict this Spirit, but this is one is straightforward.
One of the most important verses on Faith is the following verse…
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is probably one of the most corrupted terms in modern times.
It is frequently described as this, sort of, blind whimsical hope.
The scripture makes it clear that Faith is evidential belief.
We receive Faith when we seek, believe, and affirm our hope with hard evidence.

The Spirit of Hope is the Light of the World
The Spirit of Hope is depicted as a small flickering candle in a dark forest.
It sometimes feels small, but the hope of Jesus Christ gives-off a lot of light! :)
Hope is described with patience and longsuffering, a waiting and desirously earnest expectation for the Mercy and Salvation of God.

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
Lamentations 3:24–26 KJV
The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness:
But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

The Holy Spirit is Righteous Liberty

Isaiah 11:1–2 KJV
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and might,
The spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
That “Branch” is the center candlestick of the Menorah, and this passage describes the Messiah being adorned with seven distinct Spirits.
This is profound, because we observe all of these terms throughout the Bible.
The Menorah is mentioned other times, but most notably, here, as well…
Revelation 1:4 KJV
John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Revelation 1:12–13 KJV
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
When John signed himself as the one who transcribed the Revelation of Jesus Christ, to the seven churches which were in Asia, at the time, he made it clear that its prophecy is from Jesus Christ, AND from the Seven Spirits before his throne.
Later, in the fourth chapter, it states that the seven Spirits of God are sent forth into all the Earth.
Isaiah 11 makes it clear that those seven Spirits are the Spirit of the Lord (the Holy Spirit), the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, Counsel and Might, Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord.
This is profound, because the core terms and teachings of these Spirits are cited frequently throughout the scriptures.
So, if these Spirits are sent forth into all the Earth, then it might be a fulfillment of prophecy to make a point of sharing these scriptures with as many people as possible.
Isaiah 55:11 KJV
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
It shall not return unto me void,
But it shall accomplish that which I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
And so, this first depiction is of the Spirit of God, or the Holy Spirit, descending from Heaven like a Dove.

The Spirit of Wisdom is Righteous Judgement

The Spirit of Counsel is Sweet Evangelism
For the Spirit of Counsel, I chose to depict it based on this verse…

Godly counsel is praised, and called wise, but the counsel of the wicked is folly.
The Spirit of Counsel is frequently discussed with wisdom and understanding.
Counsel could be depicted in at-least a few ways, but I wanted to visually depict something that points to the savory nature of God’s Counsel.
According to Exodus 30 KJV, in the tabernacle, there were altars for burnt offerings and perfumes and incense and anointing oils, and these sweet savours were holy unto the Lord.

The Spirit of Might is the Power of Righteousness
The Spirit of Might is Mighty! :D
Strength is sometimes equated to a “strong right hand”, in the scriptures.
So, this is a pretty good way of depicting the Spirit of Might.
I would like to re-visit this, in the future, and make it more glorious.

The Spirit of Knowledge is the Key to the Truth
Originally, I depicted knowledge with a tome, but the artist, at the time, did not properly render the Spirit of Knowledge, and so I pivoted the core theme to a key that he painted, previously, as a sample of his work.
This was, ironically, the first piece completed in the series.

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
This key was actually a sample designed to demonstrate an understanding of the style I was going for, at the time.

The Fear of the Lord is a Humble Spirit
The Fear of the Lord is one of the most incredible Spirits in the Bible.
Today, you would be hard-pressed to hear an accurate sermon on this topic.
The Fear of God is taught throughout the old and new testament, and it is integral to Salvation, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, and other Spiritual Virtues.
Of the seven Spirits listed in Isaiah 11, the Fear of the Lord is specially named…
Isaiah 11:3–4 KJV
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
There are a variety of ways this could be portrayed, but many of them were quite difficult for the artist to render, at the time, so we elected for a simple display of humility.

I am overjoyed that I have finally discovered and deployed a semi-scalable model, which will allow these resources to be used with little-to-no friction.
It is my great hope that these materials will endure, and pass hands, well beyond my death, that I might have some measure of treasure and fruits, to show for my life.
